For 50 years, Brickley DeLong has been helping West Michigan individuals, businesses, and organizations navigate change, seize opportunities, and achieve their goals.
In 1975, Brickley DeLong opened its doors with four employees, a handful of clients, and a commitment to serving the West Michigan communities. While we have grown from a small local practice into one of West Michigan’s leading independent CPA and business advisory firms, our commitment to our clients and our community remains the same.
Unlike firms that have been acquired by national organizations or private equity investors, Brickley DeLong remains independent. Being independent means our decisions are made locally by professionals who live and work in the communities we serve, not outside investors or distant corporate offices. Our commitment and focus stays where it belongs: locally with our people, our clients, and our communities.

Brickley DeLong Through the Years
Brickley DeLong Is Founded
Jim Brickley, Don DeLong, Art Rudd, and Jim Koster establish Brickley, DeLong, Rudd & Koster in downtown Muskegon.
Early Growth
The firm acquires Roger Westmass’s accounting practice, expands its team, and moves to a larger office at Apple Avenue and First Street.
A Lasting Name Takes Shape
Following several partner transitions, the firm becomes Brickley DeLong, PC. The name is retained to provide consistency and preserve the recognition the firm had built.
A New Muskegon Home
The acquisition of Jacobson & VanDam leads Brickley DeLong to Terrace Plaza in downtown Muskegon. Continued growth brings the firm to a larger fifth-floor office the following year.
Expanding into Oceana County
Due to a growing number of clients in Oceana County, the Firm expanded operations and opened an office in Shelby, Michigan.
The Hart Office Grows
The Shelby office relocates to Hart in 1997. Subsequent acquisitions expand the firm’s work with businesses, employee benefit plans, municipalities, school districts, and tax clients throughout the region.
Expanding Audit Services
The firm acquires another Muskegon auditing practice, strengthening its work with governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
A Leadership Transition
Don DeLong retires after serving as the firm’s first managing partner. Tim Arter succeeds him as Brickley DeLong enters its next chapter.
Continued Growth
The acquisitions of Tom Brady’s practice and Vereecke, Simescu and Associates expand Brickley DeLong’s team, client relationships, and regional presence.
Growing in Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids office nearly doubles in size, creating more room for additional employees and continued client growth.
A Grand Haven Office
Walburg and Associates, PC joins Brickley DeLong, adding a Grand Haven location and expanding the firm’s services for the construction industry.
Investing in the Firm’s Future
Brickley DeLong upgrades its technology to improve remote connectivity and adds a dedicated human resources position as its team continues to grow.
A New Muskegon Office
After nearly 34 years at Terrace Plaza, Brickley DeLong relocates its Muskegon office to Core Plaza.
Client Accounting & Advisory Services
The firm introduces Client Accounting & Advisory Services, expanding its bookkeeping, financial management, and consulting capabilities.
Celebrating 50 Years
Brickley DeLong marks its 50th anniversary. The Grand Haven office also consolidates its team into one updated space with enhanced IT security.
A New Look for What Comes Next
Brickley DeLong enters its next chapter with a refreshed brand, a new website, and a move to the .cpa domain, reflecting the firm’s continued growth and evolution.
Rooted in the Same Mission
Brickley DeLong continues to offer tax, audit, trust and estate planning, QuickBooks, client accounting and advisory, and wealth management services. Though the firm has evolved since 1975, its commitment to integrity, quality, and attentive client service remains unchanged.
